Service Overview
Prevent the problem with Equine Bodywork.
Equine Body Work
I embrace a holistic approach to enhance your horse’s overall well-being. My range of modalities is designed to provide comprehensive support while utilizing the Equinology approach as my foundation. This includes a blend of techniques like sports massage, soft-tissue mobilization, stretching, range of motion exercises, muscle activation, focal point work, myofascial release and the new exciting modality of Equine Cryotherapy.
Prior to each session, I conduct both static and dynamic assessments to tailor the approach to your horse’s unique needs. After the session, you can expect a detailed report outlining my findings and focus areas. As part of my commitment to your horse’s improvement, I often provide “homework” exercises to extend the benefits beyond our sessions.
My background is rooted in thorough training guided by renowned experts in the field of Equine bodywork. Techniques such as Sports Massage, Myofascial Release, and Equine Cryotherapy are among my specialties. It’s important to note that I don’t make medical diagnoses, as I don’t hold a veterinary degree. However, I excel in assessing and evaluating your horse’s muscular system. Should medical attention be required, I’m more than willing to collaborate closely with your veterinarian, placing your horse’s well-being as our utmost priority.
The following are some of the modalities, which I have studied.
Equine Massage
Equine Sports Massage entails the skillful application of hands-on therapeutic techniques, yielding a multitude of benefits, including improved circulation, increased range of motion, and enhanced overall performance. By effectively relieving muscle spasms and tension, this practice also contributes to bolstering muscle tone in equine athletes.
My expertise in Equine Sports Massage is a result of comprehensive training under the guidance of Debranne Patillo, a renowned authority from Equinology Inc. This advanced instruction has equipped me with the necessary skills to aid our cherished equine companions in their healing process and injury prevention.
Cryotherapy
Equine Massage Cryotherapy, a cutting-edge fusion of massage therapy and cryotherapy designed to offer unparalleled relief and rejuvenation for your cherished equine companions.
Cryotherapy represents a safe and highly effective approach to mitigating inflammation, swelling, and pain in our equine friends. Its versatile applications encompass a wide array of conditions, ranging from minor muscle tightness and strains to more substantial injuries like tendonitis or ligament damage. Beyond its therapeutic potential, cryotherapy can be utilised preventatively to minimise injury risks in high-performance horses.
My credentials include extensive training in the latest equine cryotherapy techniques, demonstrating my unwavering commitment to providing top-tier care for your horse. My paramount goal is to facilitate a swift recovery for your equine partner, enabling them to regain peak performance with utmost care and attention.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release (MFR) entails a specialised hands-on approach that facilitates the realignment of collagen fibers, optimising their strength and functionality.
In more accessible terms, fascia refers to the thin tissue enveloping all organs, muscles, and fibers in the body. Following trauma, the muscle fibers and fascia can undergo shortening and tightening, leading to unevenness in various areas of the body.
My expertise in Myofascial Release has been honed under the mentorship of Ruth Mitchell-Golladay (PT, MT, NCTMB), a distinguished practitioner who trained at the Barnes Institute under the guidance of John Barnes, the esteemed developer of MFR. I am deeply appreciative of Ruth’s invaluable encouragement and the opportunity to learn from someone of her extensive knowledge and experience.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy represents a subtle, gentle, and hands-on approach aimed at assessing and harmonising the craniosacral and central nervous systems. This therapy revolves around the flow of Cerebral Spinal Fluid, which envelops the brain and cascades down the spinal column to the sacrum.
I have undergone rigorous training under the esteemed Gail Wetzler (PT) at the renowned Upledger Institute. Gail’s expertise extends to adapting the CranioSacral Therapy 1 and ShareCare Workshops, originally formulated by John E Upledger (D.O., O.M.M), for application in equine settings. My training under Gail has endowed me with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide effective Craniosacral Therapy tailored to the unique needs of horses.
Saddle Fitting Consultation
Ensuring your horse’s comfort and optimal performance is contingent on a well-fitted saddle that accommodates both your horse and yourself. My consultation services are dedicated to providing an unbiased evaluation, devoid of industry marketing and gimmicks, as we assess the fit of your saddles both on and off the horse.
I have received training under the esteemed Dr. Kerry Ridgway, DVM, an internationally recognised authority with 30 years of experience in endurance, competitive riding, and Equine Sports Medicine. As a founding member of the “International Association for Equine Sports Medicine” and a former chairman of the American Veterinarian Advisory Committee for the American Endurance Ride Conference, Dr. Ridgway’s expertise is unparalleled.
Agistment
Horse agistment, also known as horse boarding or horse livery, refers to the practice of providing accommodations and care for horses. In this arrangement, horse owners who may not have the necessary facilities or time to care for their horses themselves can board them at a dedicated agistment property or facility.
Our agistment property offers stables and paddocks where the horses can be kept, along with amenities such as feeding, watering, and regular exercise. Our level of care and services provided can vary, ranging from basic pasture boarding to full-service boarding, where staff take care of all aspects of horse management.
